The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, responded to the British Guardian’s review of the protests in Serbia in the form of a letter that was published on the portal and in the print edition of that newspaper, on the pages reserved for readers’ letters, Nedeljnik reports.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the letter titled “Serbia Cannot Accept Violent Protests,” Vu\u010di\u0107 stated that most of the “unregistered gatherings” were of a small scale, that they became “violent,” and that police actions “remained limited and restrained,” but also that elections will be held “before the 2027 deadline expires.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to N1 about the letter from President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 to the British Guardian, international relations analyst Mirko Dautovi\u0107 assessed that it was “a rather weak attempt at PR obfuscation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I would say that the Guardian’s editorial board recognized that very clearly. It was first published only yesterday, on Saturday, in the print edition of the Guardian in the weekend supplement, on the seventh page in the ‘Readers’ letters’ section below photos from a market, some carrots\u2026 From that, you can see that it was published just for the sake of it. It’s humiliating – for a letter from a president to be published there,” said Dautovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter was also published on Friday, August 29, on the British newspaper’s portal, also in the “Readers’ letters” section below illustrations of vegetables that refer to a note about the Harvest Festival in Oxfordshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
