The Serbian javelin thrower Adriana Vilago\u0161 won second place in the final of the Diamond League in Zurich with a throw of 62.96 meters in the third series. The first place was taken by the Greek Elina Tzengko, who threw the javelin 64.57 meters.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adriana Vilago\u0161 was second in her fourth and final appearance in the Diamond League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Serbian national team member did not have the most ideal start to the competition; in the first attempt, she threw 59.96 meters. While in the second, she recorded a throw 73 centimeters shorter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After her longest throw in the third series of 62.96, she did not manage to get closer to the 63-meter mark until the end of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourth diamond of the strongest athletics league was won by Elina Tzengko from Greece. The tip of her javelin left a mark at 64.57 meters in the first series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tzengko and Vilago\u0161 know each other well from the European Senior Championship in Munich in 2022, when the Serbian national team member showed her potential and in the last series threw the javelin farther than the current world record holder Barbora \u0160pot\u00e1kov\u00e1 for a silver medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that championship, Elina Tzengko was in a slump for almost two years, but this year she came close to her personal best of 65.81.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third-place finisher was the athlete from the Republic of South Africa, Jo-An\u00e9 van Dyk, with 62.26 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vilago\u0161 faces the biggest challenge in the rest of the season, a performance at the World Championship which will be held from September 13 to 21 in Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Serbian athlete is traveling to the land of the rising sun as the current European champion for junior seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
