US President Donald Trump’s plan to deploy troops in Chicago constitutes an abuse of power, said today the Democratic governor of the US state of Illinois, J. B. Pritzker.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There is no emergency that justifies sending the National Guard to Illinois, and the US president is trying to invent a crisis,” said Governor Pritzker in a statement, as reported by the BBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pentagon is working on plans to deploy the US military in Chicago as part of US President Donald Trump’s fight against crime, homelessness, and illegal immigration, US media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citing its sources, the Washington Post states that the US Department of Defense’s planning, which has been ongoing for weeks, has several options, including the mobilization of at least a few thousand National Guard members as early as September, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Chicago is in chaos. We will probably fix that next,” Trump said on Friday during a conversation with journalists, criticizing Chicago’s mayor and the leaders of cities run by Democrats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
