US President Donald Trump spoke out after yesterday’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, with whom he discussed security guarantees for Ukraine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with Fox News, Trump explained the direction the talks went and revealed previously unknown details of the plans to reach a truce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Great Britain, France, and Germany will send troops on the ground to ensure peace. They will deploy them in advance. I don’t think that will be a problem,” Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that the US will not send soldiers on the ground, but that US security guarantees are “possible from the air.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked if he could give guarantees that American troops would not be deployed, Trump replied: “You have my assurance, and I am the president.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m just trying to stop the killing of people,” said the first man of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump also said that he hopes Vladimir Putin “will be good.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If he’s not, it will be a difficult situation,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US President added that he thinks Volodymyr Zelensky and Putin are “doing well.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US President says that he has always considered Ukraine to be a buffer zone between Russia and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump added that he had a “very good conversation” with Putin after his meeting with Zelensky and European leaders yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I didn’t do it in front of them, I thought it would be disrespectful to President Putin,” he said, adding that “Putin would not talk to people from Europe.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Putin and Zelensky meet?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Trump revealed more details about his plans for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In a way, I organized it with Putin and Zelensky, and you know, they are the ones who have to make the decisions, we are, we are 7,000 miles away,” Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I called President Putin and we are trying to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky and we’ll see what happens there, and then, if it succeeds, if it succeeds, then I will go to a trilateral meeting and conclude it,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President added that, in his opinion, Putin and Zelensky “are cooperating a little better than he thought.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think maybe the fact that they get along a little better than I expected. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have organized a meeting of the two of them, but I would have immediately organized a trilateral meeting. But I think they are doing a little better now. There was a huge amount of bad blood between them,” the president said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
