He was detained, but the public is concerned about a possible cover-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A midday training session on the Tami\u0161 turned into a nightmare for parents and children\u2014young kayakers. The scenes, they say, were like something out of a horror film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I asked him, &#8216;Are you trying to drown all the children?&#8217; He cursed at me and started to run me over, crossing over me four times,&#8221; the coach said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The children were screaming, crying. It was horrifying and shocking for us. It&#8217;s a 300-horsepower, 400 kg jet ski, and he was at full throttle. A direct hit to the head would have been fatal,&#8221; said the club&#8217;s secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outcome: six children with minor injuries and the coach with somewhat more severe injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We cried for maybe hours, we were scared for the coach because that man started to run him over with the jet ski,&#8221; said one little girl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Then he overturned us, and almost drowned us,&#8221; said another little girl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We were so scared and couldn&#8217;t sleep well because of everything,&#8221; a third little girl recounted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What was additionally disturbing for the parents, the coach, and the people of Pan\u010devo was that it seemed, as they stated, that the case was being covered up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;One of the younger police officers said he had received instructions that he had to let him go, so he, dead drunk, got into a car not far from here, floored it, and sped off. They didn&#8217;t confiscate the jet ski, they didn&#8217;t do an on-site investigation, they didn&#8217;t give him a breathalyzer test. The Basic Public Prosecutor&#8217;s Office in Pan\u010devo is charging the suspect with the criminal offense of endangering public safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, as N1 has learned, the Higher Public Prosecutor&#8217;s Office in Pan\u010devo has also become involved in the proceedings.
