Students from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ni\u0161, who are in a blockade, have spoken out about Novak \u0110okovi\u0107’s decision to move the tournament to Athens.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serbia has officially been left without an ATP tournament after Novak \u0110okovi\u0107 moved it from Belgrade to Athens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students reacted to the relocation of the ATP tournament from Belgrade and the regime’s attacks on Novak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is what happens when the regime, without any provocation, starts attacking Novak. We were left without the opportunity to further promote ourselves in the world and to be the home of the best tennis players in the world\u2026 Power is more important than anything useful for Serbia,” the students in the blockade stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attacks on Novak by the regime<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The reason for \u0110okovi\u0107’s visit to Athens in June was precisely to examine the possibility of organizing the tournament in Greece, and that the main goal was to move the Belgrade tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The text of the Greek agency SDNA also mentions the political context:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As is known, Novak’s relations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 have been shaken after the Novi Sad tragedy and his support for student protests. The \u0110okovi\u0107 family is therefore considering the OAKA arena as a better option,” the Greeks write.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The turbulent situation in Serbia and the desperate struggle of the SNS to retain power have reached a completely new level when it comes to media propaganda and the control of information that must pass the filter of the current regime’s suitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Novak \u0110okovi\u0107 also felt this, and only because he dared to use his democratic right and freedom of speech to comment on the situation in society and the state that could potentially have consequences for the lives of all of us, including theirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that freedom and that right cost him brutal media attacks, or the complete abolition of any kind of information regarding their activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Novak has unequivocally supported the students and their fight for a better tomorrow in Serbia on several occasions, which he has every right to do, and which is why he is under attack from the regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
