(VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>The court in Pri\u0161tina sentenced Milun Milenkovi\u0107 and Aleksandar Vlaji\u0107 in the first instance to five years in prison each, for allegedly committing the criminal act of terrorism, i.e., an armed attack on the office of the Municipal Election Commission in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, in December 2022. Dejan Panti\u0107 was sentenced in the same process to two years for alleged hooliganism.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the verdict of the presiding judge of the court panel, Judge Valjon Kurtaj, Miomir Vaki\u0107 was acquitted of the charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The convicted have the right to appeal the first-instance court&#8217;s verdict to the appellate court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The time spent in detention will be counted towards their sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accused were not present at the session where the verdict was announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pri\u0161tina, Izricanje presude \u010detvorici Srba optu\u017eenim za terorizam\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MzUz81kSFdg?start=128&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawyer Dejan A. Vasi\u0107 said that he is sure that the convictions handed down by the court today cannot pass in the Appellate Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I have no doubt that my colleagues who defended Milun Milenkovi\u0107, Aleksandar Vlaji\u0107, and Dejan Panti\u0107 will succeed in proving their innocence by the end of the procedure. Regarding Miomir Vaki\u0107, the court accepted the defense&#8217;s arguments which we pointed out from the beginning of the proceedings. This success is part of the teamwork of my colleagues from the office, the acquitted Miomir Vaki\u0107, and me,&#8221; said Dejan A. Vasi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The defense lawyers of the accused Serbs pointed out shortcomings during the court process, and lawyer Ljubomir Pantovi\u0107, Dejan Panti\u0107&#8217;s defense lawyer, said that the prosecutors completely forgot what it means to withdraw from an indictment, to withdraw from criminal prosecution due to lack of evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;That doesn&#8217;t exist here with them. And that is a legal obligation. All prosecutors are obliged not to file an indictment when there is no evidence, or if it is determined during the procedure that there is no evidence, to withdraw from criminal prosecution. Here, the exact opposite is happening.
