Consecutive Life Sentences Handed Down<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Under an agreement with the prosecution, which agreed not to seek the death penalty for these crimes in exchange for a guilty plea, Kohberger (30) received four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole or appeal<\/strong>, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Steven Hiepler<\/strong> offered Kohberger an opportunity to make a statement before the sentence was handed down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With all due respect, I decline,” the defendant quietly replied at the end of the court proceedings in a Boise courtroom, the capital of Idaho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the hearing, the accused sat in the courtroom in his prison uniform while relatives and friends of the victims \u2013 Ethan Chapin<\/strong> (20), his girlfriend Xana Kernodle<\/strong> (20), and her roommates Madison Mogen<\/strong> (21) and Kaylee Goncalves<\/strong> (21) \u2013 could not hide their pain and anger towards Kohberger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
