Students in the blockade of higher education institutions in Belgrade have sent an open letter to the Government of Serbia, demanding the fulfillment of two requests by June 28, 2025, at 9 PM.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The first request is for the Government, in accordance with Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, to submit a reasoned proposal to the President of the Republic of Serbia for the dissolution of the National Assembly, with the aim of calling early parliamentary elections by 9 PM on June 28, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second request is for the Government to appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to cease the allegedly reported gathering in Pionirski Park and Trg Nikole Pa\u0161i\u0107a Street by 9 PM on June 28, 2025, in accordance with Article 18 of the Law on Public Assembly, which refers to Article 8 of the same Law,” the students stated in the open letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The current Government received its mandate from the Parliament of Serbia, which does not reflect the current political situation in the country. The regime has shown that it no longer has the capacity to lead the country through the biggest socio-political crisis in the past few decades.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to them, the largest protests in Serbia’s history have “delegitimized this government,” which is why they demanded early parliamentary elections back on May 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We believe that elections are the fundamental mechanism of every democratic society brought to this level of distrust in institutions, and that an alternative solution to this crisis does not exist,” the students added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
