A monument dedicated to the victims of the post-war terror of Yugoslav communists will be erected in Valjevo. This was unanimously voted on by the councilors of the local parliament at the last assembly session.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative to erect the monument was launched by “Zdrava Srbija” councilor Neboj\u0161a Tadi\u0107 back in the previous convocation of the parliament. After the assembly decision was made, Tadi\u0107 also submitted a request for a location permit to the competent authorities. According to him, memorial plaques will be placed at the execution sites, and the monument will be erected in the park near the “General Svetomir \u0110uki\u0107” Sports Hall in Valjevo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As stated in the assembly decision, the monument aims to preserve the memory of all innocently killed citizens who, without a fair legal process, were deprived of life or disappeared in the period from the autumn of 1944 to the winter of 1946 in the territory of the city of Valjevo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the president of the Inquiry Committee, councilor Tadi\u0107 congratulated all councilors, every councilor club, the mayor, and the president of the Assembly with their associates at the assembly session for recognizing that the initiative to erect a monument to the victims of the post-war terror of Yugoslav communists “was not a call for revenge, nor digging deeper ideological divisions in our city,” but that it was an initiative “leading to reconciliation after eight decades.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The monument that will be erected will be a warning to future Valjevo generations, that never should any ideology or political goal be a reason to raise a hand against our relatives, godparents, neighbors, and friends. It is especially important that we never allow such biblical evil and misfortune to be pushed upon us by foreigners, as happened at that time. Our decision today and the erection of this monument are the best sign that we are returning to ourselves and our way of life, that we are on the best path to restoring the character of Valjevo formed by our wise and brave grandfathers, devoted to God and Serbdom. This decision is proof that this Assembly has the capacity to make decisions that will benefit the future of Valjevo, benefit the security, i.e., safety, progress, and well-being of every Valjevo family, company, every village, all media, and all city institutions. That is why today we bravely and decisively make such decisions, unitedly, as we did today. Long live Valjevo! The cornerstone of our homeland Serbia,” Tadi\u0107 stated from the assembly rostrum after the councilors unanimously adopted the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SPS councilors also voted for the erection of the monument to the victims of the terror of Yugoslav communists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal for the conceptual design of the monument to the victims of communism in the period from 1944 to 1946 was made by academic sculptor Tomo Komatina from Kraljevo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
