After three days of walking, on Tuesday, June 17, in the evening, the 120-kilometer long humanitarian pilgrimage from the Holy Trinity Monastery in Kikinda to the Ravanica Monastery in Vrdnik was completed for fourteen-year-old Ivan Filip\u010dev from Be\u010dej, who has cerebral palsy.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiator of this unique humanitarian march was his peer Milica Jon\u010deski from the village of Jabuka. Aleksandar Jovanov, Marjan Brkovi\u0107, and Milo\u0161 Boc joined her on the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milica’s father, Vasil Jon\u010deski, followed them by car. Milica learned about Ivan Filip\u010dev from Petar Vidovi\u0107, the founder of the “Drug sa druma” association, and then decided to help him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our goal was clear and strong: to help Ivan have a more peaceful childhood and treatment without worrying about money,” Milica Jon\u010deski told N1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day, they covered a stage 41 kilometers long from the Holy Trinity Monastery to Ba\u010dko Petrovo Selo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Full of emotions and faith in what we are doing, it was not difficult for us, because we knew why and for whom we were walking,” Milica described her experience to N1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Cyclists Also Visited Ivan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On June 1, they covered a 42-kilometer route from Ba\u010dko Petrovo Selo to Temerin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That day, they also visited Ivan Filip\u010dev in Be\u010dej. Student cyclists, who participated in the “Tour to Strasbourg,” also visited Ivan then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivan’s mother, Kristina Demeter Filip\u010dev, recounts to N1 how she felt at that moment. She said that the initiative of the girl Milica, who managed to gather a team with whom she walked together, has invaluable worth for her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Until two weeks ago, these people were completely unknown to us. And then, all of a sudden, they organized a humanitarian walking tour for our child. On that journey and during their visit to Ivan in our home, they showed what many families with children with disabilities lack \u2013 empathy and support. That feeling, that someone cares about you and doesn’t turn their head away, is even more important to us than material aid. At the same time, people from Be\u010dej also showed us unprecedented support, which our child has never experienced in such a direct way until now,” Ivan’s mother emphasized to N1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Message for Ivan: 129 to 3030”<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After Be\u010dej, the team continued walking to Temerin. They took a break in the village of Nadalj, where they were greeted by people who helped them a lot, and to whom, according to Milica, they owe special gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourteen-year-old girl describes the third day of the journey to N1 as “the most demanding, but also the most emotional day,” even though it was the shortest in terms of mileage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She claims that the 37-kilometer walk from Temerin to Ravanica Monastery in Vrdnik was physically exhausting due to many uphills and downhills, but that did not deter them, because “their hearts led them,” and at the finish line, they were greeted by about fifty bikers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“An incredible scene, full of emotions, love, and togetherness. None of us expected such a welcome. We sang, laughed, and finally cried with joy, from tiredness and gratitude, with one clear message: 129 to 3030,” Milica Jon\u010deski told everyone who wants to help Ivan by sending an SMS message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivan Needs New Aids and Rehabilitation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ivan, who has heroically lived with cerebral palsy since birth, had a difficult and complicated spinal deformity surgery in February, which went well, but the rehabilitation period is still ongoing, and after that, he should continue with several hours of daily exercises as before, so that he can walk in a walker again, N1 learned from his mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has grown recently, so his car seat, home seat, and wheelchair have become too small for him. The price of these aids, individually, ranges from 400,000 to 800,000 dinars, Ivan’s mother tells N1. According to her information, the state covers about 80,000 dinars of these costs for the purchase of a wheelchair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
