Humanitarian Sa\u0161a Jovanovi\u0107 arrived in \u0160abac after seven days of kayaking from Jasenovac in Croatia to \u0160abac. He covered 420 kilometers, all with one humane mission: to attract public attention and raise the money needed for the treatment of five boys suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“No one has ever done something like this for our children, and it seems, for anyone at all. Sa\u0161a made a great sacrifice to help our boys. This is not the first time he has helped us; he also organized a humanitarian concert in \u0160abac and went on a pilgrimage with friends to Ostrog to raise money for our children,” says Jasna Simi\u0107, mother of Du\u0161an, one of the five boys in Serbia suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 300 thousand dollars are still needed; that is the amount that separates these boys from innovative therapy. They should receive this therapy as soon as possible, as every day means an advantage for this disease. There is practically no more time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Sava is a river that is both beautiful and a beast. It’s most beautiful when you enter Serbia, but I also encountered rapids and whirlpools, as well as wrecks of old ships; it wasn’t easy at all. For several days, the wind blew directly into my chest, but I knew why I was doing this, so it wasn’t too difficult,” says Sa\u0161a Jovanovi\u0107, as reported by \u0160aba\u010dke Novosti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sa\u0161a was met at the finish line by young Du\u0161an Simi\u0107 and his parents, as well as Sa\u0161a’s friends from \u0160abac, who congratulated him on such a feat. Also, an hour before reaching the goal, young kayakers from KK “Zorka” paddled out to meet him, and they arrived together at Stari Grad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With every stroke, I thought about the boys for whom I am doing this. Here, I have completed this journey; it was not easy to paddle 420 kilometers, but I reached the goal. I hope that these five boys will also reach their goal soon and collect the money they need,” Sa\u0161a stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
