Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 today presented Claudia Tenney, co-chair of the Serbian Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, with a decoration for her exceptional merits in developing and strengthening cooperation and international relations between Serbia and the USA \u2013 the Order of the Serbian Flag of the First Degree.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the award ceremony in Belgrade, Vu\u010di\u0107 thanked the Republican congresswoman for her “outstanding contribution to improving relations between Serbia and the USA, through strong engagement within the American Congress and in her capacity as co-chair of the Serbian Caucus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President of Serbia stated that the development of good relations with the USA and full membership in the EU are the country’s foreign policy priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I can note with satisfaction that bilateral cooperation is constantly on the rise, although still disproportionate to objective possibilities, which requires additional efforts to achieve common goals. Our sincere wish and endeavor is to continue to further improve relations based on shared values and build a partnership in a spirit of mutual trust and respect,” Vu\u010di\u0107 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the “important and continuous” support of the USA for preserving stability, peace, and security in the Western Balkans region, as well as its contribution to the process of normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pri\u0161tina through dialogue, regardless of all differences between the two sides on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I particularly thank you for understanding the need to respect the rights of Serbs and other non-Albanian populations in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as for your courageous criticisms of Pri\u0161tina’s unilateral moves when these rights were illegally violated,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tenney thanked for the award and said that she has been connected to all people in the former Yugoslavia since her student days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I could really get an award from the Chamber of Commerce for all the people and family members I’ve brought here, college friends who constantly visit. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me; I came here with love and gratitude and feel great love for the Serbian people,” she said, also conveying greetings from U.S. President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
