For Croatia<\/strong>, she says it’s the most popular Balkan country, but also the most expensive. However, she doesn’t mind, as she was enchanted by its incredibly beautiful coast and islands, stunning architecture, and excellent food. “Croatia has the best olive oil in the world,” she notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Serbia<\/strong> struck her as somewhat harsh, with many communist-era apartment blocks, but she was delighted by Belgrade’s nightlife and the beauty of Novi Sad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Bulgaria<\/strong>, she particularly liked the Rila Monastery and the Seven Rila Lakes, and she describes Sofia as a beautiful, traditional European city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She didn’t expect to like Bosnia<\/strong>, but she completely fell in love with it, even though the scars of war are still visible. “The Mostar bridge and the people who jump from it are iconic for a reason,” she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What surprised her the most, she says, was Albania<\/strong>. She was particularly captivated by the Albanian Alps but was also impressed by the Albanian beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
