He completed elementary and high school in his hometown and graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade, majoring in the history of Yugoslav literature and Serbo-Croatian language. During his studies, he worked as editor and editor-in-chief of the student literary magazine <em>Vidici<\/em>. He spent his working life as an editor in the cultural editorial office of Radio Belgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He published the following poetry books: <em>Slovenske elegije<\/em> (1958), <em>Veseli grobovi<\/em> (1961), <em>Poslednja zemlja<\/em> (1964), <em>\u0160lemovi<\/em> (1967), <em>Uo\u010di tre\u0107ih petlova<\/em> (1972), <em>Subota<\/em> (1976), <em>Vidik na dve vode<\/em> (1980), <em>Um za morem<\/em> (1982), <em>Deset obra\u0107anja Bogorodici Trojeru\u010dici hilandarskoj<\/em> (1983), <em>Isto\u010dnice<\/em> (1983), <em>Gornji grad<\/em> (1990), <em>Igla i konac<\/em> (1992), <em>Ljuska od jajeta<\/em> (1998), <em>Ta\u010dka<\/em> (2004), and <em>Planeta Dunav<\/em> (2009).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selections of Simovi\u0107\u2019s poetry were published in the books <em>Izabrane pesme<\/em> (1980), <em>Hleb i so<\/em> (1985, 1987), <em>Isto\u010dnice i druge pesme<\/em> (1994), <em>U\u010denje u mraku<\/em> (1995), <em>Sabrane pesme I\u2013II<\/em> (1999), and <em>Pesme. Knjiga prva<\/em> and <em>Pesme. Knjiga druga<\/em> (2005). He also wrote the plays: <em>Hasanaginica<\/em>, <em>\u010cudo u \u0160arganu<\/em>, <em>Putuju\u0107e pozori\u0161te \u0160opalovi\u0107<\/em>, and <em>Boj na Kosovu<\/em>. Simovi\u0107\u2019s plays were performed on many of our stages, as well as abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to poetry and plays, Simovi\u0107 also devotedly wrote essays about Serbian poets and playwrights. This resulted in the book <em>Duplo dno<\/em>, which went through several editions. His essays on visual artists were published in the book <em>\u010citanje slika<\/em> (2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simovi\u0107 also wrote the dream diary <em>Snevnik<\/em> (1998) and the novel <em>U\u017eice sa vranama<\/em> (1995).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;color:#d21414\" class=\"has-inline-color\">FIND OUT MORE IN ENGLISH:<\/mark><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fserbiantimes%2Fposts%2Fpfbid037D4hkZsAzTWk6hdbtN3REiHFzkXzhonE9KVijeybK1Yw5CPhXE2CpzUo3NduMQKJl&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"250\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Beginning with the book of autopoetic and engaged essays <em>Kova\u010dnica na \u010cakovini<\/em> (1990), Simovi\u0107 authored an entire series of books discussing current literary, cultural, social, and political issues: <em>Galop na pu\u017eevima<\/em> (1994), <em>Novi galop na pu\u017eevima<\/em> (1999), <em>Guske u magli<\/em> (2005), <em>Obe\u0107ana zemlja<\/em> (2007), <em>Titanik u akvarijumu<\/em> (2013), <em>\u017dabe u redu pred potkiva\u010dnicom<\/em> (2016), <em>Odbrana Beograda<\/em> (2020), and <em>Neslana so<\/em> (2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Selected Works of Ljubomir Simovi\u0107<\/em> in 12 volumes were published in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simovi\u0107 was the recipient of the most prestigious literary awards for poetry, drama, and essay writing. In October 1994, he was elected a full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arhipelag, which confirmed the news of the academician\u2019s death, stated that it is grateful to Ljubomir Simovi\u0107 for his support and understanding, goodwill, and careful reading of their books. Ljubomir Simovi\u0107 had been working for years on the poetry book <em>Riba sa dva repa<\/em>. Although the book was long finished, the poet wished to continue working on it and was dedicated to it practically until the very end. In several interviews, he spoke about the book and that it would be published by Arhipelag.
