(VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Seven members of the <strong>Security Service of the District Prison in Belgrade<\/strong>, along with one member of the <strong>Ministry of Internal Affairs<\/strong>, have dedicated part of their <strong>annual leave<\/strong> to a <strong>pilgrimage<\/strong> to <strong>Ostrog Monastery in Montenegro<\/strong>. Their goal is to help raise funds for the <strong>treatment of young Nemanja Ljuti\u0107<\/strong>. After spending the night in <strong>\u010ca\u010dak<\/strong>, they continued their journey today towards <strong>U\u017eice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>March 21<\/strong>, they set out <strong>on foot<\/strong> from <strong>Rakovica Monastery<\/strong> on a <strong>440-kilometer humanitarian pilgrimage<\/strong>. Walking <strong>up to 50 kilometers per day<\/strong>, they remain <strong>united and motivated<\/strong>, driven by a <strong>single purpose<\/strong>\u2014to support the <strong>treatment of eight-year-old Nemanja Ljuti\u0107<\/strong>. The boy suffers from <strong>subacute sclerosing panencephalitis<\/strong>, a severe condition caused by <strong>direct infection with measles<\/strong>. He has <strong>multiple health problems<\/strong> and is <strong>immobile<\/strong>. Donations for his treatment and therapy are being collected through a <strong>humanitarian foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marko Miti\u0107<\/strong>, commander at the District Prison in Belgrade, stated:<br><em>&#8220;We aim to make this a tradition so that next year, one of us embarks on this sacred journey again to raise money for another child. We have injuries, but we keep moving forward, we don\u2019t pay attention to them. We treat ourselves along the way, apply some creams. Our goal is to reach Ostrog and pray to the saint for Nemanja Ljuti\u0107.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nothing, they say, will <strong>stand in their way<\/strong>. They endure <strong>pain and exhaustion<\/strong> with <strong>courage<\/strong>, even walking <strong>at night<\/strong>. Along their journey, they are met with <strong>kindness and hospitality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/services.brid.tv\/player\/build\/brid.min.js\"><\/script><div id=\"videoBox-2073402\" class=\"brid\" itemprop=\"video\" itemscope itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/VideoObject\"><\/div><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> $bp(\"videoBox-2073402\", {\"id\":\"34612\",\"width\":\"600\",\"height\":\"343\",\"video\":\"2073402\",\"autoplay\":0,\"shared\":true});<\/script>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vladica Miti\u0107<\/strong>, from <strong>Intervention Unit 92 in Belgrade<\/strong>, explained:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Wherever we passed\u2014believe me\u2014from Lazarevac to Lu\u010dani, people stopped, offered help, accommodation, food, financial assistance, and asked where they could donate money. I have no words for the kindness shown in this region; they truly supported us to the fullest.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some members of this group <strong>completed a similar journey last year<\/strong>, walking to <strong>Ostrog<\/strong> to raise funds for the <strong>treatment of little Anastasija Zafirovi\u0107<\/strong>. <strong>Filip<\/strong>, one of the participants, became a <strong>father on the day of their departure<\/strong>, yet he still <strong>chose to continue the journey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Filip Smolovi\u0107<\/strong>, commander at the District Prison in Belgrade, said:<br><em>&#8220;I just had a baby, and honestly, it\u2019s a little hard for me, tough not being with him. But I even named him after our saint, Vasilije. I joined this journey in the hope that we can help little Nemanja live more easily and fight this terrible illness. We push forward with a few brave colleagues. The road is tough, we have injuries, but everything will be fine.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>More than 80% of the necessary funds<\/strong> for Nemanja&#8217;s treatment have already been raised.
