The legendary Miroslav Mi\u0107a Beri\u0107 has long shown greatness on the field, and now he has donated all his jerseys, that is, those he had as memories of his great career, to help educators who were left without salaries in the fight for justice and truth, and a better tomorrow in our country.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized by Nova.rs and with the support of the Alek Kav\u010di\u0107 Foundation, a humanitarian auction “Mi\u0107a’s jerseys for education” was held, where jerseys of the legendary basketball player Miroslav Mi\u0107a Beri\u0107 were auctioned. The aim of the auction was to raise funds to help educators who were left without salaries in support of students who have been protesting across Serbia for months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An evening full of incredible emotions, a full heart and an unrepeatable feeling of pride. That’s what happens when something is done by people who actually are. And today it is especially important to be a human, and that means helping someone. To show empathy, unity, the purest emotions and all those values that are somewhat forgotten in the common struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the style of “all for one, one for all,” as Svetislav Pe\u0161i\u0107 would say, because then some things happen that make the heart full and that make us very proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s exactly what the “Mi\u0107a’s jerseys for education” auction was, held on Thursday evening at “Dor\u0107ol plac.” The legendary Mi\u0107a Beri\u0107 has long shown greatness on the field, but now he has decided to donate all his jerseys, that is, those he had as memories of his great career, to help educators who were left without salaries in the fight for justice and truth, and a better tomorrow in our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 17,500 euros, or slightly more than two million dinars, was collected at the auction, and representatives of companies, well-known sports figures and individuals who wanted to contribute to this humanitarian action attended the auction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began with a live edition of the podcast “Pick and Roll,” hosted by Mi\u0107a Beri\u0107, and authored and hosted by Neboj\u0161a Todorovi\u0107. In an open and emotional conversation, Beri\u0107 spoke about his decision to donate the jerseys, about the importance of education and solidarity, as well as about the periods of his rich career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The auction featured six authentic jerseys from different stages of the legendary ace’s career, as well as a special jersey of Serbia with the signatures of national team players from Mundobasket 2023. Among the most valuable were the jersey of Yugoslavia from the 1996 Olympic Games and the 1997 European Championship, as well as Partizan’s jersey with a unique captain’s armband from the 1996\/1997 season, which were auctioned for 3,000 euros each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three foreign club jerseys were of slightly less monetary value, because for Mi\u0107a Beri\u0107, they all have the same priceless value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The championship jersey of the Lithuanian \u017dalgiris went for 1,500 euros, while the jerseys of the Italian clubs Scavolini and Verona reached amounts of 1,300 and 1,200 euros. And the newest of the offered jerseys of Serbia with the signatures of the players from Mundobasket 2023 was estimated at 1,500 euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special moment of the evening was an additional donation from Mi\u0107a Beri\u0107 himself. During the event, he decided to buy the jersey of Yugoslavia from the 1998 World Cup, which is owned by his son Aleksa, and donate another 3,000 euros to help educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the bidders were representatives of “Raiffeisen Bank,” the company “Vizartis,” former national team captain Tina Kraji\u0161nik, sports influencer Strahinja \u0106alovi\u0107, as well as numerous individuals such as Marko Topi\u0107, Milivoje Ne\u0161ovi\u0107 and Sr\u0111an \u0106irovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Alek Kav\u010di\u0107 Foundation, which will direct the funds to educators affected by the suspension of salaries. This auction was not only an opportunity to raise funds, but also a strong gesture of support to educators, students and all those who are fighting for a more just society. Because knowledge must not be punished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
