(VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>The famous Israeli historian and leading expert on the Auschwitz and Jasenovac concentration camps, who will give several lectures in America in March, doubts that Serbs could give up Kosovo and that they should not do so, because it is for them the same as Jerusalem is for Jews \u2013 the core of the nation.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The world&#8217;s leading expert on the &#8220;Auschwitz&#8221; concentration camp, but also someone who has dealt with the crimes of the Ustashas in the NDH for years and wrote the book &#8220;Jasenovac, Auschwitz of the Balkans,&#8221; will give several lectures during March.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Grajf will first give a lecture entitled &#8220;The Truth about Jasenovac&#8221; organized by Serbian Times, and under the patronage of Serbian American PAC, on March 14th at St. Sava Church in Milwaukee, the next day, March 15th at St. Nicholas Church in Lyons, and the day after, March 16th, he will speak at the Church of the Holy Resurrection on Redwood Drive in Chicago, and the following weekend, organized by the Serb Association of Texas, on March 21st and 22nd he will speak in Houston (Friday: 12 PM Holocaust Museum Houston; Saturday: 6PM Hotel Westchase).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;color:#d21414\" class=\"has-inline-color\">FIND OUT MORE<\/mark><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fserbiantimes%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0bbiDwdxd5GJK9SKKDpzsL4k5kK24ctJr1GdU9FDf9B9KJwMdcbL6wcYZTJUkRwRvl&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"679\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview for Kosovo Online, where he spoke about the Serbian province, Grajf said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;If I compare it to the Jewish people, it is like the eternal city of Jerusalem for us. We say that without Jerusalem our life is not life because it is the heart, the core of our nation. It is the beginning of the beginning, the heart of our tradition, our culture, our history. I don&#8217;t think Serbs can give up Kosovo. I wouldn&#8217;t give up. I don&#8217;t want to interfere in your business, but I wouldn&#8217;t give up because it is a part that is so important, so essential. You cannot give up. Never, never.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed concern about the position of the Serbian community in Kosovo and said that a solution should be found to stop the &#8220;terror and threats&#8221; they are exposed to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The situation is absolutely not good. Based on what I heard with my own ears, Serbs are suffering there and that is unfair. It is an injustice inflicted on them. This situation cannot continue. I don&#8217;t have a solution, but some solution must be found so that Serbian citizens have a peaceful life, and not be under terror or threats. That is certainly not a good situation, not at all, and I am really worried about it and it should change,&#8221; said Grajf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expert on the Holocaust and war crimes, this historian has been actively involved in the events of the recent and distant history of the Balkans over the past decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is saddened by the fact that the Serbian people are &#8220;accused of absurd things&#8221; and emphasizes that Serbs and Jews have a similar history of &#8220;suffering.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Grajf: Vi se nikada ne moz\u030cete odrec\u0301i Kosova\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OFJkN8DzFys?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I am proud to be a friend to Serbs who have suffered so much. You may know that our histories, the histories of Serbs and Jews, are very, very similar. It is suffering, bloodshed, prejudice, false and fabricated accusations\u2026 We deserve a much better image in the world. And I feel sad for the Serbian people who are accused of really absurd things and therefore I wish them the best. When I came to Belgrade 12 years ago, I remember that I fell in love with Serbia and the Serbian people from the first minute. I am very honest with you, I tell you, I fell in love with Serbia,&#8221; said Grajf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is convinced that it is possible for the &#8220;ghosts of the past&#8221; to stop haunting the peoples of the region and turn to the future, but that this requires overcoming many hostilities, prejudices and feelings of hatred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This requires motivation. Without it, nothing will happen. That&#8217;s why you have to develop that kind of motivation that will take time, people will have to start talking to each other. But still, it all depends on people. Without good will, nothing will be possible,&#8221; said Grajf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked whether this reconciliation is possible between Serbs and Albanians, Grajf is convinced that it will depend exclusively on the goodwill of both peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;If you have good will, I believe you can overcome most problems, maybe not all. But in life nothing is perfect, there is no perfect situation, but 80 percent is also a good result, as is 90 percent. And I believe you can achieve that. You need good will, a good heart and good motivation. That&#8217;s enough,&#8221; said the historian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Grajf: Nas\u030ce sudbine su povezane i slic\u030cne\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ecoo1HQp3pw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Grajf participated in a scientific conference in Belgrade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked how much the world has &#8220;learned the lesson,&#8221; he says he is afraid that the same mistakes that lead to bloodshed and wars are constantly repeated throughout history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;You know, we, especially in private life, have a tendency to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. And there must be some strong reason to stop and think, to come up with new ideas and change our bad habits. It is the same with nations. If you don&#8217;t have motivation, you will never change. You will repeat conflicts and hatred and prejudices and evil deeds. There must be motivation and a desire to make this world a little better,&#8221; emphasized Grajf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He believes that this is possible with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin as leaders of the two most powerful countries, the United States and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s possible. I see that new opportunities are now opening up with these two great leaders who are brave people, people with a great vision. And that&#8217;s why I think there&#8217;s a chance. Of course, we are not prophets, we don&#8217;t know what can happen, but a new chance has just opened up and maybe that&#8217;s the turning point for humanity, to start living in a better world. Personally, I think so. As you can see, I make comparisons between private life and the life of nations because I believe it is possible to make life better. You just need to not complicate small things. Most problems are easy to solve, but people like to complicate things for no reason. It&#8217;s similar with nations. To make the world more peaceful and simpler and everything will be successful after that.
