Among the guests of honor were His Royal Highness Prince Aleksandar, His Eminence Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Elpidoforos, and His Grace Bishop of Eastern America Irinej.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of the ceremonial reception, after the national anthem was sung by Sofija Sretenovi\u0107, a video recording of the address by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko \u0110uri\u0107, on the occasion of Statehood Day, was broadcast. Guests were welcomed by the Charg\u00e9 d&#8217;Affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the UN, Radomir Ili\u0107, Colonel Miroslav Gli\u0161i\u0107, Senior Military Advisor in the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the UN, and Consul General Dr. Vladimir Bo\u017eovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his address, Consul General Dr. V. Bo\u017eovi\u0107 emphasized the historical significance of Sretenje, stressing that this holiday of Serbian statehood and historical heritage is also an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the invaluable contribution of members of our diaspora to their homeland, as well as to the communities in which they lived and created. He especially emphasized the achievements of the Serbian community in the United States of America, especially in New York, whose talent, dedication and results are permanently woven into the being of this city.
