The same damage was observed yesterday by a journalist from <strong>Danas<\/strong>, and readers have been reaching out with concerns about the station\u2019s safety, given the <strong>visible structural damage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At first glance, the station\u2014<strong>officially opened in 2018<\/strong>\u2014appears modern and well-maintained. He emphasized that <strong>significant plaster cracking<\/strong> could indicate an <strong>underlying structural issue<\/strong> that requires inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;Technically, it seems that the plaster\u2014applied to cover the main structure for aesthetic reasons\u2014has cracked. If I were a construction inspector, I would order all the plaster removed to check for damage to the <strong>concrete support beams<\/strong>. This cracking could be due to temperature expansion and contraction, but it\u2019s also possible that <strong>minor shifts<\/strong> in the structure have occurred. There are multiple possible causes,&#8221;<\/em> Da\u0161i\u0107 explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He highlighted that <strong>concrete support beams weigh thousands of tons<\/strong>, making <strong>any damage a serious concern<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;At the very least, the cracks should be <strong>opened up<\/strong> for inspection to determine the condition of the concrete supports. It is also necessary to check for <strong>related cracks<\/strong> in the <strong>main load-bearing structures<\/strong>, which are extremely strong construction elements. If serious damage is found, access for passengers should be <strong>restricted<\/strong>, and train traffic should be <strong>suspended<\/strong>,&#8221;<\/em> Da\u0161i\u0107 stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He criticized <strong>poor construction practices<\/strong>, warning that <strong>improper techniques can have severe consequences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;Even applying plaster correctly requires <strong>expertise<\/strong>, but we are dealing with people who seem to have only <strong>walked past the Faculty of Civil Engineering<\/strong> a few times,&#8221;<\/em> he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Calls for Inspection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While debates continue over <strong>passenger safety and the station&#8217;s functionality<\/strong>, Da\u0161i\u0107 noted one <strong>positive<\/strong> aspect: <strong>the main elements of Prokop were built before the current administration<\/strong>. However, he added that <strong>concerns remain<\/strong>, as <strong>&#8220;everything being reconstructed nowadays seems to be falling apart. Perhaps they should consider reconstructing the government as well.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Master architect Ines Radovi\u0107<\/strong> told <strong>Danas<\/strong> that after seeing the footage online, she contacted the <strong>construction inspection department<\/strong>, demanding an <strong>urgent investigation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;I am writing regarding the footage from the Prokop railway station in Belgrade, which is being shared on social media and clearly shows <strong>significant damage to the support columns<\/strong>.
