It\u2019s hard to imagine a priest with a Bible in one hand and a bomb in the other. But Father Stojiljko Kajevi\u0107 (88) was exactly that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a young seminarian, he had to flee Tito\u2019s Yugoslavia due to a passionate sermon, and afterward, fate took its course \u2013 through secret channels via Italy and France, he reached America, settling in Chicago, where he became the mastermind and soul of the Serbian Liberation Movement \u201cOtad\u017ebina,\u201d a patriotic but also terrorist organization that became the biggest thorn in the side of the notorious UDBA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was the organizer and participant in the famous bombing incident when, exactly at midnight on January 27, 1967, on Saint Sava\u2019s Day, bombs exploded in 6 Yugoslav diplomatic missions across North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, he was interrogated by U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark and spent seven years in American prisons, where, by his own admission, the devil often tested his faith and humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an attempt to free him, Nikola Kavaja hijacked a passenger plane, only to end up in the same prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
King Peter wept listening to his sermons and kissed his hand, while Duke \u0110uji\u0107 loved him like a son but also warned him not to go too far in his fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of his journey, Kajevi\u0107 says he has no regrets, that he did what he had to do, but always tried to follow God\u2019s path and keep His commandments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, he is retired in Chicago, occasionally serving as a substitute priest when someone is absent or ill. Still vital, sharp-minded, and with a photographic memory, he agreed to open up to Serbian Times and share how it all happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
