Can the Serbian diaspora play a more active role in American politics in the future? With this idea in mind, the Serbian-American Political Action Committee (PAC) was recently founded in Chicago, aiming to make the Serbian community in the U.S. politically recognized.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Serbian-American Political Action Committee<\/strong> was established by five Serbian-American businessmen<\/strong> (Ranko Risti\u0107, Filip Milivojevi\u0107, Zoran Beri\u0107, Dan Mici\u0107, and Goran Petkovi\u0107<\/strong>), who provided significant financial support to Donald Trump during his election campaign. They intend to use their positions and influence to benefit<\/strong> Serbs both in the homeland and the diaspora<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The founders of the Serbian-American PAC<\/strong> were special guests<\/strong> at President Trump\u2019s inauguration<\/strong> in Washington, where they returned with many positive impressions<\/strong>. Ranko Risti\u0107<\/strong> shares his thoughts\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SERBIAN INTERESTS COME FIRST: Founders of the Serbian-American PAC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Aside from attending a magnificent event that we believe will mark a major turning point in American history, we had the opportunity to meet and talk with many prominent and influential people in politics\u2014senators, congressmen, and future members of Trump\u2019s cabinet\u2014which will greatly help us in our future activities,”<\/em> Risti\u0107 told Serbian Times<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the PAC\u2019s main objectives?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Our goals are twofold: to increase the relevance of the Serbian-American community and to foster closer ties between the Serbian and American people. Recognizing the crucial importance of both activism and financial support, the PAC aims to fulfill both aspects. We are committed to mobilizing the Serbian-American community at this key moment in U.S. history. The Serbian-American PAC was launched with an initial fund of $250,000<\/strong>\u2014an unprecedented achievement for a Serbian organization. Our goal is to raise at least one million dollars<\/strong> this year, and we invite all Serbs in America who share our vision to join us and support this historic effort. Everything will be transparent, and everyone will be able to see where the money is going… and it will go towards lobbying and protecting Serbian interests. The Serbian voice must be heard in Washington, the White House, the State Department, and the Pentagon.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEETING WITH INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE, IN IMPORTANT PLACES: Serbian-American PAC founders with U.S. senators and congressmen<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What are the biggest challenges Serbian-American PAC will face in U.S.-Serbia relations?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“The challenge is the decades-long negative perception of Serbs, who have been demonized by Western media. This narrative has become deeply rooted in U.S. institutions such as the State Department.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the most pressing issues that need to be addressed first?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“The biggest issue is the one-sided U.S. policy towards Serbia and Republika Srpska<\/strong>, as well as violations of UN Resolution 1244 and the Dayton Agreement<\/strong>. Both agreements are directly linked to American policy, yet there has been no significant progress in respecting international law and signed agreements for decades.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You mention financial contributions. How important is money in American politics, and for a project like SAP?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Money is crucial. We are witnessing ever-growing budgets in political campaigns, and we cannot afford to fall behind. The sooner we realize this, the sooner we will be able to make real progress.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serbia is sending a new ambassador to Washington, Dragan \u0160utanovac<\/strong>. Did you expect this choice, given your good connections in Serbian politics, or was it a surprise to you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I will not comment on the new ambassador to the U.S., but I will say this\u2014I hope the Trump administration will not appoint anyone from Biden\u2019s circles as the next U.S. ambassador to Serbia. Serbian representatives in the U.S. over the past four years have had a very positive impact on the diaspora<\/strong> and have left an indelible mark<\/strong>,”<\/em> concludes Ranko Risti\u0107<\/strong>, one of the leaders of the Serbian-American PAC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
