The inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump will be moved indoors, he announced tonight (Friday), due to the extremely low temperatures forecast for Monday, January 20, in the U.S. capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have directed that the inaugural address, along with prayers and other speeches, be held in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, as Ronald Reagan did in 1985, also due to very cold weather,\u201d Trump posted on Truth Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will open the Capital One Arena on Monday for live viewing of this historic event and for hosting the Presidential Parade. I will join the crowd at Capital One after taking the oath,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies will honor the request of the President-elect and his Presidential Inaugural Committee to move the 60th Inaugural Ceremony inside the Capitol\u2019s Rotunda,\u201d the committee stated in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee always prepares contingency plans to host the inauguration at alternative locations in case of weather conditions or other obstacles. However, the current challenge is accommodating the thousands of people who would have been outside, as the Rotunda cannot hold them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe vast majority of ticketed guests will not be able to attend the ceremony in person,\u201d the committee noted in a notice sent to ticket holders later on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee urged potential attendees to watch the ceremony \u201cfrom indoor venues of their choice,\u201d adding that it is \u201cdesignating specific viewing locations and will provide additional information.\u201d The committee stated that those with tickets for the presidential platform and members of Congress would be able to attend in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
