Many have sold their plots for a substantial sum, but Vid Lukovi\u0107, a prominent farmer from the village of Ple\u0161in on Golija, has taken a completely different approach. He has decided to donate his land to those who want to come and live and work in the countryside. His offer is not only an invitation to return to one&#8217;s roots but also a plea to revitalize the beautiful Serbian villages that are increasingly disappearing. This mountain man is giving away ten acres of land in pristine nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It saddens me to see these villages where people live healthy lives becoming empty. That&#8217;s why I want to give my land to someone who wants to live here. What good is a mountain without sheep, what good is land without people? Everything that is sown here grows. But you have to work. A person must show that they are ready for life here. There is one key condition for me to give them the land. The new owner must stay on the property all year round, living in harmony with nature, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Budo Stevanovi\u0107 settled in well and befriended the Lukovi\u0107 family. He now lives a different, but he says, a much better life. Although the hosts were initially skeptical about whether Budo would enjoy life on the harsh Golija, he quickly proved them wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I came a month ago and I&#8217;m going to stay here. With Vid and his children. I tend to the sheep, look after the cows and horses, and enjoy nature. My best friend, Vid&#8217;s youngest son Aleksej, keeps me company,&#8221; says the newcomer, Budo Stevanovi\u0107. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Host Vid lives on a rural property with his wife. He has seven children and six grandchildren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He says he enjoys being surrounded by the peaceful hills of Golija and the clean air. Among other things, he is engaged in raising Mangalica pigs. Although life in the village is full of challenges, especially in winter, he believes that daily contact with nature is priceless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There is water, air, and wood, but people have become slaves to central heating and limousines, mobile phones. If you ask me, city life is like the antechamber of hell. We serve others, we lose ourselves. I worked abroad for many years and I couldn&#8217;t take it anymore, so I returned to the village with my family. That was the best decision I&#8217;ve made in my life. I&#8217;m woken up by a rooster in the morning, I don&#8217;t look at the clock during the day, we work on the farm.
