(VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the coast of northern California today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A tsunami warning has been issued for parts of the California and Oregon coasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A dozen magnitude 4 earthquakes preceded the strong 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the sea area off the northern part of the US state of California this evening, EMSC reported.<br>The quake occurred at a depth of ten kilometers, EMSC added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SkyAlertMx?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SkyAlertMx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USGS_Quakes?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@USGS_Quakes<\/a> earthquake 7.0 felt in Chico, California. December 5, 2024. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Rvx3CHSL3W\">pic.twitter.com\/Rvx3CHSL3W<\/a><\/p>&mdash; tessycaspine (@tessycastell) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tessycastell\/status\/1864747308153221460?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 5, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>The epicenter of the earthquake was 108 kilometers northwest of the city of Fortuna, which has a population of 12,000, and the larger city in the area is Santa Rosa, with a population of around 180,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no information yet on any possible material damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to PowerOutrage.us, more than 10,000 customers in Humboldt County, California, which is closest to the earthquake epicenter on Thursday, are without power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is about 10% of the total number of tracked customers in that county.
