Pritzker announced on Wednesday that he would oppose the planned deportation raids that newly elected President Donald Trump intends to carry out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pritzker\u2019s statement came during an appearance on MSNBC, where he, alongside Colorado Governor Jared Polis, introduced a new alliance called &#8220;Governors Protecting Democracy&#8221; (GPD). The organization was formed in response to Trump\u2019s victory in the presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We will not allow human rights violations through raids coordinated with local authorities. This is unacceptable, and in Illinois, we will not condone it,&#8221; Pritzker said, adding that he would also oppose any potential use of the National Guard to carry out deportations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: Governor of Illinois says local law enforcement won\u2019t cooperate with raids and deportations of illegals in his state <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TswLV6UnNg\">pic.twitter.com\/TswLV6UnNg<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1856771092318400643?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 13, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson echoed his support for Pritzker\u2019s stance, stating that the city\u2019s police department would not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the deportation of migrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom Homan, Trump\u2019s nominee for head of the Border Patrol, recently announced the possible return of workplace raids, a practice that the Biden administration ended in 2021.
