Activist Zlatko Kokanović has been released from the Šabac Correctional Facility to defend himself from freedom, Šabačke novosti announced on Instagram.
On Thursday Kokanović was questioned, presented his defense and denied committing the criminal offenses he is charged with, regarding the accusations of attacking an official on March 1.
Let us recall, Kokanović had previously been ordered into detention for up to 30 days for committing two criminal offenses, Attack on an official and Obstruction of an official in the performance of official duty.
Kokanović was arrested on March 1, when with a group of farmers he tried to block the border crossing toward Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He is suspected of attacking police officers, because according to the allegations in the criminal complaint, he rushed forward and struck several police officers with a tractor.
He was ordered into custody, but was then released to defend himself from freedom.
Then on March 2 he was detained again and detention for up to 30 days was ordered.
The judge for the preliminary proceedings at that time rejected as a reason for extending the detention the possibility of repeating the criminal offense, but detention was ordered due to public disturbance.
