Exactly 11 months have passed since the canopy of the Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed and killed passers-by, including the pregnant woman, Anđela Ruman (20) from Stara Pazova, who was at the station on the fateful day with her partner, Miloš Milosavljević (21), who also died. Her mother published their joint photo and some heartbreaking words today.
“Still, when the gate squeaks, Mališa runs out to meet you. I wait for your laughter, jokes and: ‘Mom, can we have your pancakes’? There is no longer even that smell in the house, sadness, darkness, silence, pain reign. We miss you, beautiful angels,” Zorica Ruman wrote in her post, along with a photograph of the deceased young couple.
The love story of Anđela Ruman and Miloš Milosavljević ended that November 1, at the Railway Station where Anđela had traveled from Pazova. She was supposed to meet Miloš, and her mother previously recounted what preceded the horrific tragedy.
“That fateful day, the two of us were sitting and talking that morning, she left the house and even asked me: ‘Mom, will you walk me to the train station?’ She was afraid to go alone by train, she was so shy. I told her then: ‘Come on, sweetie, grow up, you are 20 years old, you get on the train, Miši waits for you there and you go on.’ And she left, she called her father and sister. We talked around 11:20, half past 12, we were arranging to go to their place on Sunday, to meet Miloš’s mother. And while we were talking, the connection broke off, I really don’t know if it happened at that moment or not. We were talking, she told me: ‘I’m alive, I’ve arrived, everything is fine, Miši said he’s coming but he’s not here yet.’ The connection broke off, I thought maybe Miloš had arrived and they had left the station,” says the mother of the deceased girl.
The inconsolable mother then turned on her phone and wanted to read the news before work, not knowing that her daughter was among the victims of the fatal collapse of the Railway Station canopy.
“I see an accident happened in Novi Sad, I start calling my daughter, I look at the clock, they should have left there already, all hoping they were no longer there. I call her again, no answer, they tell me at home not to panic. Miloš is on the third shift, they probably got to his place, he fell asleep, maybe she turned off the ringer and fell asleep with him. I convince myself, yeah, I’m just panicking, but again I feel a restlessness and I can’t calm down,” the interviewee explains.
Then a message arrived from Miloš’s sister, who was asking for Anđela’s number because she couldn’t reach her brother. Then, as she recounted, their agony and search for any official information began. Unfortunately, the tragic news arrived.
