VUČIĆ: We will talk with Russians about NIS, we have nothing more to talk about with Americans

President Aleksandar Vučić stated that due to the announced American sanctions on NIS, there will be no rest in the coming period and there will be a lot of troubles, probably difficult decisions as well, but that work will be done to protect the country, and he stressed that we will talk with the Russians about everything, while now we have nothing more to discuss with the Americans.

Tomorrow is the deadline for postponing the American sanctions on the Oil Industry of Serbia.

President Aleksandar Vučić said that due to the announced American sanctions on NIS, there will be no rest in the coming period and there will be a lot of troubles, probably difficult decisions as well, but that work will be done to protect the country.

He stressed that we will talk with the Russians about everything, while now we have nothing more to discuss with the Americans.

“On the other hand, I hope the company will not lay off a large number of workers. In any case, we will talk with the Russians about everything, now we have nothing more to talk about with the Americans. They have pushed through theirs. The Europeans will support the American sanctions. I am quite sure that after a short time JANAF will stop supplying oil. So, we have that physical problem,” Vučić said, answering journalists’ questions during the tour of the e-Government House and the “Ložionica.”

He stated that there is another, perhaps even bigger problem, and that is the financial and banking problem, because, as he said, there is no bank in the world that will not want to avoid American sanctions.

“Great, we have one state and one private Serbian bank that can stay one, two, three or five days longer, but they won’t want to fail or disappear because of the sanctions either, so we will have countless problems. That means – you cannot pay the workers, you cannot pay anything, you cannot pay for parts for the refinery and many other things. This gives rise to countless problems. We will have to see how to solve it,” he pointed out.

However, he assessed that Serbia, although neither guilty nor at fault, will draw the short straw.
