Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, after a meeting with teams responsible for the country’s energy stability and security, stated that there is no good news regarding NIS.
“We expected to receive a license from the U.S. government to continue refinery operations, but we did not get a positive decision from the U.S.,” Vučić said.
President Vučić emphasized that the situation with NIS is disappointing.
“It is clear that the Russians do not want to sell, and they have the right not to sell – they are the owners, but we face many difficulties because of that,” he added.
“Janaf did not allow us to import oil not intended for the refinery, but for our strategic reserves”
In line with the measures, we continued dealing with the import of petroleum products. Our storage facilities are full, the president said.
Croatian company Janaf did not allow us to import oil that was not intended for the refinery but for our reserves. We guaranteed that they would have their observers, as well as the Americans, Vučić added.
“They say it’s not only NIS under sanctions but all of Serbia, until the Americans say otherwise,” the president said.
“We offered them to see where we would store the oil,” Vučić noted.
“No problems have occurred in supply. The state is serious, has worked hard, and invested money into reserves. You will be satisfied with the state’s conduct,” Vučić underlined.
