The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today that the Military Security Agency informed him that his conversation with Dijana Hrka yesterday was recorded without authorization, but that he will not prosecute anyone because of it, since he is proud of everything he said on that occasion.
Vučić told Pink television that the conversation with the mother of the young man who died when the canopy of the Novi Sad railway station collapsed was decent and that it lasted a long time.
He said that he gave Dijana Hrka answers to her questions and that his wish was to “end the agony of a woman who lost a child,” but that there are no quick and easy solutions.
Vučić commented on calling on Uglješa Mrdić and Dijana Hrka to end their hunger strike, and pointed out that Mrdić is in the hospital and should be released soon, adding that he hopes he will not continue the strike.
–At this moment, there are neither health nor medical possibilities for him to continue. And for Ms. Hrka, I called her completely ready to receive her and talk, to stop the agony of a woman who lost a child – said Vučić.
He says that she said that day that she could not respond because he did not personally call her, which was not difficult for him, and he called her personally.
–She is a citizen of Serbia and I want to care and take care, I called her personally, we had a conversation, it was not short. I will not say what kind of conversation it was, but it was decent. We agreed on some things, we disagreed on some. But honorable people do not relay private conversations – said Vučić and added that they illegally recorded that conversation, but that he will not prosecute anyone who participated in that unauthorized conversation.
–I have nothing to be ashamed of, let them publish the whole conversation, I am proud of every word I said – said Vučić.
He points out that what she said, that he is not competent, he does not think is her decision and her words, but, he adds, he believes that someone else designed it. However, he adds, he accepts it as her position.
–My job was to help and do everything in my power, but I will not chase and force someone to do something – said Vučić.
Commenting on the playing of music from Pionirski Park while Dijana Hrka is on a hunger strike on the other side, Vučić says that everyone was bothered by the most beautiful Serbian songs, they said it was terror over an innocent woman, even though those people have been standing there for months, not bothering anyone and only they were the target of attacks.
–No, they are criminals, because they allegedly attacked the mother. Also, the firecracker was deep inside Pionirski Park, someone threw it at Pionirski Park, and not the other way around. Just as you no longer mention and no one mentions that a man was almost killed, because they tried to wash away all rational arguments with an irrational part. It is no longer important that someone tried to kill a man, but that some verse in a stanza wanted to anger the mother. Are they ashamed even a little, for so many lies and all that – said Vučić.
He says that they are attacking these people all the time, criminalizing them, wanting to deal with them, creating racial theories, calling people toothless….
–And they are all geniuses, academics and so on…. My request still stands, to Ms. Hrka, even after everything she said, that she is always welcome and that we can talk. It is not a problem for me to come to you too, just to talk. It is hard for you to know better than me how much I have worked and done for this country, I am just an ordinary man and nothing more than that – said Vučić and adds:
–It is interesting that no one called her to stop the hunger strike from that side, how responsible that is. You are supporting her to die. Those who wish Ms. Hrka ill, support her to continue the strike. We will fight for her to stop the hunger strike, he stated.
Vučić said that his question is what to do with a man who says: ‘May you all drop dead, you animals”.
Let us remind you, on Monday, Vučić announced on social media that he talked with Dijana Hrka, and she first refused to comment on the news, and after that, she said that she would not go to a meeting with him because “he is not competent for the work of the prosecutor’s office or her requests.”
Hrka assessed that Vučić, with that invitation, put himself in the foreground and covered up the fact that a firecracker was thrown at her tent yesterday.
Vučić told Pink that the firecracker was thrown 120-150 meters from the place where Hrka is striking and that the attack was aimed at the people in Pionirski Park, and not at her.
The President said that he hopes that the Member of Parliament of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Uglješa Mrdić will not continue the hunger strike after being released from the hospital.
Hrka has not been taking food since November 2nd and demands that those responsible for the death of her son and the other 15 victims be prosecuted, as well as that all arrested students be released and that the President of Serbia, Vučić, call extraordinary elections.
