German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Germany intends to upgrade its armed forces into “the strongest conventional army in Europe,” promising that “all necessary financial resources” will be secured for this purpose.
The 39-page document states that 377 billion euros will be allocated for the purchase of armaments for the ground, air, naval, space, and cyber forces of the German army, the Brussels portal reports.
The document confirmed that the reform and equipping of the German army will be “firmly rooted in domestic industry.”
German companies dominate the identified tenders with about 160 projects worth about 182 billion euros, according to Politico.
