Uroš Blažić, who on May 4, 2023, killed nine and injured 12 people in the villages of Malo Orašje and Dubona, was convicted today before the Special Court in Belgrade.
The trial was completed in an express pace for the Serbian judiciary, and after just under four months, the first-instance verdict was pronounced for Uroš Blažić.
Because he was under 21 years old at the time of committing the crime, he was legally classified as a young adult, so he could receive a maximum of 20 years in prison for the murder of nine people.
It was only in his closing statement that Uroš Blažić publicly expressed remorse for the crime he committed and even said he regretted that “there is no death penalty because it would be adequate for him.”

“These are heinous crimes that I committed, I deserve the worst punishment, if I can atone for these sins. I think the death penalty would be an adequate punishment for me. I would be silent, turn to the wall and wait for you to shoot me. I sincerely ask you not to convict an innocent man, my father, who has nothing to do with this. He did not procure the weapon or endanger the safety of others. If you can, give me a longer sentence, and let my father go. I cannot bring back the time. Kill me, I am guilty, but I beg for mercy for my family,” Uroš Blažić said in his closing statement.
In the horrific massacre in Ravni Gaj, near Malo Orašje, Nemanja Stevanović, Lazar Milovanović, Marko Mitrović, Aleksandar Milovanović, Nikola Mitić, Petar Mitrović were killed, while in the center of Dubona, brother and sister Milan and Kristina Panić and Dalibor Todorović were killed.
The public prosecutor requested 20-year prison sentences for both Uroš Blažić and his father Radiša, who was convicted by the Higher Court in Smedereva for the unauthorized production, holding, carrying, and trafficking of weapons and explosives in conjunction with the crime of a serious offense against public safety.
