“UNFORTUNATELY, KOSOVO WAS NOT RECOGNIZED”: The FIFA president stirred up spirits in Serbia with a shameful statement!

Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, seriously stirred up spirits in Serbia with a shameful statement about the Kosovo national football team.

During his guest appearance on the podcast of the Football Federation of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, Infantino spoke about Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka.

“For many footballers from Kosovo who were born and raised abroad, there is a large number of influences. As we know, a large number of them, while the Kosovo national team was not internationally recognized, started playing for the Switzerland national team,” Infantino pointed out.

Then he added a part that we could describe as – shameful, at the very least:

“For example, Shaqiri and others. One of the best players who could have played for Kosovo, but Kosovo was not internationally recognized at the time, unfortunately,” said Infantino.

Shaqiri and Xhaka tried to change their citizenship and play for this national team, but they were not allowed to because they had played for Switzerland at the European Championship.
