Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Merezhko, a member of the “Servant of the People” party and chairman of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, has nominated the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025.
Merezhko explained that, according to the rules of the Nobel Prize committee, members of parliament from different countries can propose candidates for the award, as noted by the portal “Suspilne.”
He emphasized that Trump deserves the Nobel Prize for his diplomatic role and reminded that during his first term, the United States provided military aid to Ukraine.
Merezhko added that Trump played a key role in strengthening the international coalition against Russia and blocking the “Nord Stream 2” pipeline project.

According to him, Trump’s nomination is an opportunity to express hope that his future term will be based on international law and the principles of the UN, particularly the “Ukrainian peace formula,” which could help end the war.
Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize was previously supported by Republican Party representative Claudia Tenney, citing Trump’s “historic role” in peace in the Middle East.
Trump has repeatedly stated that he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours if he became president, and during his speeches, he criticized current U.S. President Joe Biden for, as he said, his inability to negotiate with Russia.
However, he did not specify the concrete steps he would take to end the war in Ukraine.
