Republican Donald Trump has called on Muslim voters in Michigan to support him, claiming he will end conflicts, while Michelle Obama made a strong appeal to voters on behalf of Kamala Harris at a Democratic rally in one of the key swing states.
In Michigan, Harris and Trump are vying for voters, including the Arab-American and Muslim populations concerned about Israel’s bombing of Gaza, while union workers are anxious about how electric vehicles might reshape the American automotive industry, headquartered in Detroit, the largest city in the state.

Election Day is November 5, but early voting is underway in Michigan, as well as in many other states.
Speaking at a rally outside Detroit, Trump said he had just met with a group of local imams, asserting that he deserves the support of Muslim voters because he will bring an end to conflicts and establish peace in the Middle East.
“That’s all they want,” Trump said in the Detroit suburbs, also promising auto workers at the rally that he would reverse the economic decline in the Detroit area and across the country.
Trump fully supports Israel but did not specify how he would resolve the conflict there.
Nevertheless, it appears that Trump is gaining support from some American Muslims, disillusioned by President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s backing of Israel, and despite Trump’s ban on immigration from certain Muslim countries during his first presidential term.
Imam Belal Alzuhairi from the Islamic Center of Detroit joined Trump on stage, stating, “We are asking Muslims to stand with President Trump because he promises peace.”
With around 8.4 million registered voters and 15 electoral votes out of the 270 needed for victory, Michigan is one of seven competitive American states that will decide the election.
