The first action by the new U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration was to terminate the CBP One application, which had allowed people to cross into the U.S. from Mexico through eight border checkpoints for work. Nearly one million people had used the app.
Immediately after Trump was sworn in, a notice appeared on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website announcing that the application, which allowed migrants to schedule appointments with border officials at these checkpoints, was no longer available.
The notice further stated that all previously scheduled appointments were canceled.
With this move, Trump fulfills a campaign promise to those who criticized the application as an overly generous incentive for migrants seeking to enter the U.S. via the southern border.

CBP One was highly popular, operating as an online lottery system that allowed 1,450 people per day to secure appointments at the eight border crossings through random selection.
This method of entry falls under the authority of the U.S. president, and former President Joseph Biden used it more extensively than any of his predecessors since its introduction in 1952.
