In an explosion that occurred in the Fatih district, in the European part of Istanbul, two buildings collapsed today, and a search is underway for two people believed to be trapped under the rubble, Anadolu reports.
The Office of the Governor of Istanbul announced that five people had been trapped under the rubble, and that “two neighboring buildings collapsed after the explosion, which is believed to have been caused by natural gas.”

“Numerous teams from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, as well as fire and medical teams, have been dispatched to the scene,” the statement said.
As added, three people have so far been rescued from the rubble and transported to the hospital.
