Denver Nuggets players are currently in Abu Dhabi where they will play two games against Boston. Nikola Jokić, the best basketball player in the world, spoke on various topics ahead of these duels, touching on Novak Djokovic as well, and the Sportal team was there on the spot. The Serbian ace expressed hope that Svetislav Pešić will remain the coach of the Serbian national team, and he chuckled when asked about the “Parisian banquet” after winning bronze at the Paris Olympics. It was from there that the conversation with Nikola Jokic about Novak Djoković began.
Obviously, you and Novak Djokovic are currently the two most recognizable Serbian athletes on the planet. Given that Novak is 37 years old and is still doing everything he does, do you have an ambition to play at that level, at that age?
“I think you really have to be in great shape and really focused on your body. Of course, motivation is something you always have to have. He probably isn’t chasing a legacy, maybe greatness. He’s a special person, a special personality, a special athlete. He represents our country at a very high level for a long time. We all feel that at some point we become Novak Djokovic, because of the way he represents us. We think we are like him, that we are among the best in the world…”
Do you see yourself…?
“Not even close.”
