At today’s session, the Government of Serbia adopted a Conclusion approving the text of the nomination dossier for the extension of the international UNESCO World Heritage property “Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe.”
This nominates for inclusion on the prestigious list the forest ecosystems “Paprtski Do” in Fruška Gora National Park, “Kozje Stene” in Kopaonik National Park, as well as “Zvezda” and “Rača” in Tara National Park, the Government announced.
Serbia will nominate the beech forests from these three national parks together with France, Italy, and Montenegro, and the inscription of the first natural property in Serbia on the World Heritage List would represent recognition of successfully preserved natural heritage of European and global importance.
