YouTuber Neven Krstić, better known as Nevenclips, was beaten in Pionirski Park, where the “Ćacilend” camp settlement has been formed.
According to a video he published on his YouTube channel, he and his cameraman were beaten while Neven was trying to film a report for his channel.
At the beginning of the video, before entering Pionirski Park, he addressed police officers, who allowed him to enter.
Neven initially managed to get a few statements from the men inside, but problems arose with one man who got into an argument with him.
Soon, several men appeared around the YouTuber; they said nothing but began to approach him, and sensing an incident, Neven started to retreat from them.
At one point, the men from the park attacked him and the cameraman. The camera then fell, and it was not visible how they were being beaten, but Neven could be heard loudly calling “Police!” several times.
When the attackers dispersed, the cameraman filmed the YouTuber with a bloody face, and Neven said in the video that no police had appeared.
Neven recounts to Danas how it all unfolded.
“The cameraman, my friend, and I went to Pionirski Park on Wednesday to take some footage and get statements from the people there. Since I had already done a report before the big protest on March 16 and had unpleasant experiences, I first approached two police officers to ask if they could protect me inside,” Nevenclips says.
He states that the police gave him an indefinite answer but told him he could enter.
“Everything was fine for a while, but then one man appeared who was nervous and first started insulting me about my clothing. Soon, several more men approached and initially just watched. At one point, one of them threw a water bottle at us, and then they attacked us,” he recounts.
The YouTuber says they first pushed his cameraman.
“He fell to the ground, and his camera fell out, and two of them immediately punched me in the head. I managed to stay on my feet, but they kicked my cameraman in the head while he was lying on the ground. The friend who was with us was filming with his phone, but he also received several blows,” Nevenclips continues.
Police Did Not Intervene
The YouTuber says that there were no police around at that moment, even though he had seen them before the incident.
“While they were hitting us, I was shouting ‘police’ at the top of my lungs, but they suddenly weren’t there. We managed to escape somehow by jumping over a wall. Since there were no police nearby, we didn’t look for them out of fear that they might attack us again, but instead, we moved away from there,” Neven says.
He states that he went to the emergency room to have his injuries treated.
“I had a large cut under my lip that had to be stitched, as well as several bruises,” he says.
He adds that the attackers forced his friend to delete the footage before they fled.
“With threats that they would continue to beat him, they ordered him to delete the footage on his phone that showed them beating us,” the YouTuber says.
He states that he has not reported the case yet but will do so tomorrow.
“I didn’t report it out of fear of revenge, but I decided that I should report it to the police anyway. That’s why I also uploaded the YouTube video.”
