THEY FLEECED AN AUSTRIAN PENSIONER: A citizen of BiH and three Serbs before the court for the theft of over 100,000 euros!

In the Regional Court in Eisenstadt, the trial began for the suspected quartet charged with deceiving, in a “perfidious” manner, a now-deceased Austrian pensioner.

According to Austrian media reports, the fraud was carried out based on the idea of his housekeeper, a 53-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Everything took place in Eisenstadt, Burgenland province, in 2022. Namely, according to the prosecutor, the quartet exploited the weakness of the pensioner, who after two strokes was no longer fully lucid. During her presentation, the prosecutor said that the fraud was so perfidious that they “literally skinned and fleeced him,” reports Nezavisne.

The idea allegedly originated from the housekeeper, who maintained a friendly relationship with the 72-year-old and constantly presented him with fake expenses and emergency situations. The man regularly gave her money, which was never enough for her.

This twice-convicted citizen of BiH decided to “gather” a team, consisting of three Serbs. Thus, one day in June 2022, a Serb (50) appeared at the pensioner’s house and introduced himself as a court bailiff. He threatened that, if the housekeeper did not immediately settle her debts, she would be imprisoned and would no longer be able to help the pensioner. Very interestingly, the “bailiff” also happened to be a loan broker and already had all the forms with him. The third defendant, also a Serb (73), was allegedly the driver, but also a “credit advisor.”

The victim was taken to Vienna, where he took out a loan of 30,000 euros at a bank. The defendants divided the money among themselves. A month later, the 72-year-old complained to the loan broker that the installments seemed too high. The gang immediately came up with a solution: “refinancing” at a more favorable bank! They drove him to Salzburg, where, without knowing it, he took out a loan of 65,000 euros, which was again divided among them.

In addition, this Austrian pensioner allegedly “lent” the housekeeper part of the money so her son could buy a car worth 17,500 euros.

Trial without a victim

Otherwise, the report against this quartet was filed by the stepdaughter of the pensioner, who passed away in February 2023. At the hearing, the accused defended themselves by saying they handed the money over to him properly, but they do not know what he did with it.

“Everything was voluntary! He was in good health. I handed all the money to him and only kept the commission. What he did with it, I don’t know,” stated the 50-year-old Serb, who otherwise had the role of the loan broker. Precisely because of all this, the defense attorneys requested an acquittal because “no one knows what really happened.”

However, the judge postponed the proceedings, as it is necessary to hear more witnesses.
