Marko Katić, a former journalist of TV Nova, who is currently in Dubai, told N1 that five to seven explosions have been heard since this morning, but that the situation is calm. He pointed out that it is currently impossible to leave the country, since air traffic has been suspended and everyone is being advised to stay at home.

Katić said that explosions were heard in waves in Dubai yesterday during the day, as a result of Iran’s response to the American and Israeli attack on that country.

As he stated, more than 137 ballistic projectiles and over 200 drones were launched toward the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but that more than 98 percent of them were shot down.

Commenting on media reports about attacks on the Emirates, Katić said that the fire on the Palm, at the airport and at other facilities in Dubai was not the result of those locations being targeted, but rather minor incidents that occurred due to the interception of Iranian projectiles.

A certain number of Serbian citizens are currently “trapped” at the airport in Dubai, since air traffic in the Middle East has been suspended.

Katić says that the response from the embassy in the UAE arrived late yesterday and that the only message was to follow the instructions of the local authorities, with a phone number provided for Serbian citizens to call.

“That means that for now there is no concrete plan. The airports are closed, there is no way to leave the country. The safest thing is to stay in our homes,” Katić said.
