The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury (OFAC) has removed Milorad Dodik, President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, as well as the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović, from the sanctions list.

Previously sanctioned members of Dodik’s family, their companies, and close associates were also removed from the list.

OFAC had sanctioned Dodik twice before, due to anti-Dayton activities.

In addition to Dodik, 48 individuals and legal entities, who were previously sanctioned under the Western Balkans Sanctions Program, have been removed from the sanctions list, Radio Free Europe reports.

The United States regularly reviews its sanctions to ensure they promote US economic goals, as well as goals related to national security and foreign policy, which is the case here, it is emphasized.

“The constructive action of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska in recent weeks should improve the level of stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and enable a partnership with the United States based on mutual interests, economic potential, and common prosperity. We will continue to work closely with political and other actors from across the political spectrum in Bosnia and Herzegovina to promote shared priorities,” the decision stated.

About ten days ago, OFAC removed four individuals from the entity of Republika Srpska from the sanctions list, which were imposed for organizing the celebration of January 9th, the unconstitutional Day of Republika Srpska.

These are sanctions for Danijel Dragičević, Jelena Pajić Baštinac, Dijana Milanković, and Goran Raković.
