Katja Vasilev, who is only 10 years old, is the youngest poet in Serbia and has already published her first book, “Children of the World,” Euronews reports.

The promotion of the collection will be held at the Belgrade City Library on the occasion of World Children’s Day, and the program is conceived as a musical-poetic evening in which children will participate.

Katja says that the poems gathered in her first collection were written a few years ago, and the first one, titled “Angel,” she wrote for the anthology of the Association of Victims of Violence “HAJR.”

“I wrote it when I was seven, and when I saw that it was going well, I started writing more and here I am, I reached my first book,” says the young poet, whose collection contains around twenty poems.

She says she finds inspiration in children, and sometimes in her family.

“I wrote the star of my book, after which the book is named — ‘Children of the World’ — because of the children who are now going through difficult moments, and it is somehow a plea in the name of all the children of the world, to the adults, to put an end to war and hatred, so that harmony, love, and peace may prevail,” Katja tells us, adding that she wishes people would preserve their childlike heart even in adulthood.

She invited all viewers to support her at tonight’s promotion, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Belgrade City Library, where her younger sister Kaljina will recite the poems.
