The newly elected leadership of the Municipality of Zvečan toured the offices in the municipal building and found broken furniture piled up in heaps, scattered documents, and graffiti written on the walls.
The rooms in the municipal building were demolished, binders with documents were thrown around, and trash was scattered throughout the offices and hallways.
The mayor of Zvečan, Dragiša Milović, previously stated that the rooms in the municipal building were devastated, the basements were filled with water, and artworks and icons were destroyed. He emphasized that the responsible teams were working on repairing the damage in order to ensure the safety of the facility.
He added that it is known that special police units had been stationed in the municipal building for three years.

On Friday, assemblies were constituted in nine municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo and Metohija, and newly elected mayors from the Serb List assumed office.
In four municipalities in the north of KiM, the new mayors assumed their duties from Albanian mayors elected in the April 2023 elections, in which only 3.5 percent of registered voters participated. Those elections were held after Serbian representatives withdrew from provisional institutions due to Pristina’s unilateral and escalatory actions and violations of agreements.
During the time Albanian mayors led the four northern municipalities of KiM, Serbian institutions were removed from the buildings they had been using, street names were changed, signs with settlement names in Cyrillic were removed, and replaced with signs where names were written first in Albanian, then in Serbian using Latin script, often spelled incorrectly.
