The sign “Volim K. Mitrovicu” (“I Love K. Mitrovica”), which was located on King Peter I Street and was in Cyrillic script, was removed this morning in North Mitrovica, and workers have now installed a new one in Latin script that only reads “Mitrovica.”
In addition to the inscription Mitrovica, a heart is also visible on the new sign, now in green instead of red, as well as the place where the city’s coat of arms should be.
The sign is being installed by workers from a private company who refused to speak to journalists.
The sign that was removed this morning was installed in August 2020 as part of the second phase of the construction of the roundabout at the intersection of King Peter I and Knjaz Miloš streets.
