The body of Stefan Ivanovic (30) will be transported from Switzerland to Serbia, and the funeral is scheduled for Saturday when his family and friends will see him off to his eternal rest at the village cemetery near Ljig.

Stefan Ivanovic, a security worker at the “Le Constellation” bar at a ski resort in Switzerland, we recall, tragically lost his life on New Year’s Eve when a fire broke out. For days, the Serb was listed as missing, and then the horrific news arrived that Stefan had died bravely saving the guests of the establishment. Unselfishly, Stefan entered the burning bar several times and carried out mostly young people, but at one point he became stuck and his body was found after the investigation.

He was identified using DNA previously provided to the Swiss police by the Ivanovic family.

Funeral in the village of Jajcic

– The body of our Stefan Ivanovic should be transported from Switzerland to Serbia at any moment, where he will be buried in his native village of Jajcic near Ljig. We are all immeasurably both sad and proud of our Stefi, who once again showed that he is a great hero – says a friend of the deceased Serb.

– This is a true hero! Without a moment’s thought, while everyone else was fleeing, he returned several times into the fire that was devouring everything in its path and pulled out young men and women. We do not yet know if he suffocated or if perhaps some debris fell on him, but he remained stuck in the burning bar. We searched for him for days and did not lose hope that he would be alright; unfortunately, the bad news came. Stefan is one of the 40 victims of the fire in the bar – he added.

The Ivanovic family, according to him, is inconsolable due to a loss they will never be able to get over. He was their favorite, with a pure, kind, and open heart. The friend of the deceased stated that they will preserve the memory of him, as that is the least they can do.

As a reminder, during the New Year’s Eve celebration, a fire broke out in a bar in Crans-Montana in which more than 40 people died, while about 119 were injured. The Serb Stefan Ivanovic was listed as missing after the fire that broke out in the bar at the ski resort in Switzerland, which the Serbian Times was the first to inform the public about.

Stefan was sought for days, and the dark news arrived today after it was determined, based on the DNA analysis sent by the family to the competent services, that he was one of the victims.

In addition to Stefan, four other Serbs were injured and are undergoing treatment in Germany.
