The body of Ivan Vijoglavin (35), who went missing on January 3 in the town of Aradac near Zrenjanin, was found on March 12 on the banks of the Tisa River. It has now been revealed that the young man was murdered in early January, leading to the arrest of two men: M. L. (65), suspected of committing the murder, and M. L. (38), accused of aiding in covering up the crime.

“The murder committed at the beginning of the year was solved three months later when Ivan Vijoglavin’s body was found on the banks of the Tisa. One suspect was arrested shortly after, followed by the second, who is suspected of helping to conceal the crime and dispose of the body in the river,” a source told Kurir.

Ivan went missing on January 3, about half an hour past midnight, after leaving a café in Aradac, where he lived, and no trace of him was found since then.

Ivan’s mother, Lila, recounted that her son had been at the café with friends when he disappeared. She desperately tried to locate him and appealed through the media for anyone with information to contact her or the police.

“He was with four friends. They all left the café before him. Ivan stayed alone with the owner until closing time. The owner told me he closed the café and that Ivan left, but didn’t know in which direction,” Lila said.

Attempts to reach Ivan by phone failed, as his mobile had been turned off since the night of his disappearance.

“Of course, we tried calling him. However, Ivan’s phone has been off since the night he disappeared. We sent a request to the police to announce his disappearance. In the meantime, we spoke to everyone who had been at the café with Ivan, but no one knew anything,” the distraught mother added.

Three months later, the horrific truth surfaced. The body was recovered from the Tisa seven days ago, and now two suspects have been arrested.

“It is suspected that the older M. L. killed a man from the Zrenjanin area in early January. The fate of the victim remained unknown until March 12, when his body was pulled from the Tisa River. The investigation also led to the younger M. L., suspected of obstructing justice. He is believed to have helped the killer destroy and conceal evidence, ultimately disposing of the body in the river,” the media reported earlier.
