The greatest tennis player of all time, Novak Djokovic, has started a collaboration with his long-time rival and friend Andy Murray, who has joined his team as a coach.

The agreement was reached ahead of creating a strategy for the upcoming season, with a focus primarily on the preparatory period and then on the Australian Open, where Novak will try to win his 11th singles title. So far, he has won the trophy in Melbourne in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023.

“I’m excited that one of my greatest rivals will be with me on the same side of the net, this time as my coach. I’m looking forward to starting the season together with Andy and having him by my side in Melbourne, where we’ve shared many exceptional moments throughout our careers,” Djokovic emphasized.

After the first Grand Slam of the season, and depending on Novak’s competition schedule, Djokovic and Murray will discuss a possible extension of their collaboration during the year.

“I will join Novak’s team during the preparatory period, helping him to prepare as best as possible for the Australian Open. I am very excited about this, and I look forward to us being on the same side of the net for a change. And I am grateful for the opportunity to help him achieve his goals in the coming year,” said Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion, five-time Australian Open finalist, former world number one on the ATP tour, and Olympic gold medalist.
